Jeera Rice - A Delicious Veg Recipe from India

Ingredients
- 2 cups basmati rice
- 2 tablespoons cumin seeds (jeera)
- 2 tablespoons clarified butter (ghee)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
Instructions
- Rinse the rice in a bowl of cold water until the water runs clear.
- In a large saucepan, heat the ghee over medium heat. Add the jeera and let it sizzle for about 30 seconds.
- Add the drained rice and stir to coat with the ghee and jeera. Add the salt, turmeric, garam masala, chili powder, and cumin powder and stir to combine.
- Add 2 cups of hot water to the pan and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Remove the pan from the heat and let it sit, covered, for 10 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and stir in the cilantro.
